Goalie Development
The Richmond Ravens offer goalie development for all goalies in our association, and welcome any players interested in trying out the position! Goaltending is essential in minor hockey, especially for female players, and the Ravens are committed to making it an appealing option for all age groups.
Throughout the season, the Ravens will host several "Try Hockey" events for those interested in goaltending, with free gear available for participants to borrow.
About the Trainers & Sessions
For U7 and U9: Certified goaltending instructors, including current Ravens goalies, provide sessions twice a month from October to March.
For U11 through U18: Full-time goalies can bring in their own skills provider twice a month during practices, with costs covered by the Ravens. Trainers must meet specific requirements, including certifications and background checks, and submit invoices monthly.

- 1st shot save techniques
- Rebound control
- Tracking/Post Play
- Athleticism & competitiveness
Additional for advanced goalies:
- Awareness of play and attack tendencies
- Puck handling and passing
