The Hockey Canada Safety Person (HCSP) Role

Becoming a Hockey Canada Safety Person (HCSP) is a rewarding and essential position that plays a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of everyone involved in the game, from players to coaches and even spectators. As the designated safety leader on your team, you'll be responsible for creating a secure environment during practices, games, and team events.

What Does the HCSP Do?

  • Injury Prevention: Help reduce the risk of injuries by promoting safe play and teaching players proper techniques.
  • Emergency Response: Be ready to take immediate action in case of an injury or medical emergency. Your knowledge and preparedness can make all the difference.
  • Concussion Management: You'll be trained to recognize the signs of concussions and manage them appropriately, ensuring the long-term well-being of the players.
  • Safety Protocols: You'll implement safety protocols and ensure that everyone on the team, including coaches, players, and families, are aware of best practices.

What Training Do You Need?
