Remembering Danielle Cabana

On November 26, 2022, the Richmond Ravens Association were in disbelief with the news of the passing of our beloved fellow Raven, Danielle (Dani) Mei Cabana (October 3, 2016 - November 26, 2022). Dani was a member of our U7 crew, a well-known and bright light around the Richmond Ice Center. Dani’s loss was felt deeply within the Ravens Association, the hockey community and throughout Richmond.

Dani proudly wore her Ravens #29 jersey. She was a feisty player who always give it her all out on the ice. Dani loved spending time with her family, hunting with her dad, uncles and grandpa and wearing her beloved cowgirl boots.

The Ravens Association appreciates the outpouring of support and love from the hockey community. To honour Dani and the Cabana family, the Ravens Association had 29 seconds of silence prior to our games, players taped their sticks with camouflage tape, and buttons and helmet stickers were created, sporting “We Play for Danielle” with the number 29 on them. More recently, every Ravens player received a "We play for Danielle" practice jersey which they have been wearing at all practices.

The Richmond Ravens Board of Directors has dedicated the Richmond Ice Classic tournament in memory of Danielle Mei Cabana.  Her name adorns every medal awarded at the tournament each season.

We hope everyone has a wonderful time participating in the Richmond Ice Classic this year, and encourage all players to “play like Dani” out on the ice.
